Limestone
Lime stone is a result of the sedimentary rock formation and it is a sedimentary stone mainly composed of calcite. This stone has more smooth surface as compared to other stones .The compact grains of lime stone prevents the absorption of water and it looks amazing after polish. Its hardness and brittleness help in smooth and perfect cutting in customized sizes. This stone is usually used both for interiors and exteriors but can also be used for water proofing in side walls as wells as on roofs & floors. The main characteristic is only unnoticeable variation is found in lime stone.
Limestone often contains variable amounts of silica in the form of chert or flint, as well as varying amounts of clay, silt and sand as disseminations, nodules, or layers within the rock. The primary source of the calcite in limestone is most commonly marine organisms. These organisms secrete shells that settle out of the water column and are deposited on ocean floors as pelagic ooze or alternatively is conglomerated in a coral reef (see lysocline for information on calcite dissolution). Secondary calcite may also be deposited by supersaturated meteoric waters (groundwater that precipitates the material in caves). This produces speleothems such as stalagmites and stalactites. Another form taken by calcite is that of oolites (oolitic limestone) which can be recognized by its granular appearance.

| Limestone, like marble and other calcareous stones, are referred to as acid sensitive. Calcareous stones are readily dissolved in acid, therefore acidic products should not be used on limestone and marbles. |
